Getting here

The darmstadtium is conveniently located in the heart of the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region with direct access to the A5 and A67 motorways. Frankfurt International Airport can be reached by car in 20 minutes and by rail or the AirLiner shuttle bus in about 30 minutes. The AirLiner stops directly in front of the darmstadtium and runs every 30 minutes. Darmstadt’s central railway station is only a few minutes away from the Science and Congress Centre and can easily be reached by both car and public transport.

During Darmstadt's Christmas market the bus stop “Kongresszentrum” will not be served up until december 23rd 2025. The AirLiner will depart to Frankfurt Airport from “Luisenplatz”.

We recommend a sustainable journey with Deutsche Bahn.

New construction of bridge Rheinstraße

Traffic restrictions and timetable changes

Extensive construction work will be carried out around the Rheinstrasse bridge, part of the access road to Darmstadt, between spring 2023 and 2027. In order to meet the requirements of a sustainable traffic routing, the bridge will be rebuilt and the on- and off-ramps will be redesigned.

Unfortunately, the new construction of the Rheinstraße bridge is accompanied by restrictions for road users in Darmstadt. In particular, people arriving and departing by car must expect increased traffic volume and time delays on Rheinstraße.

  • Since March 29, 2023, the detour for automobile traffic into the city runs over the Hilpertstraßenbrücke.

Please pay attention to the stop changes for the airport shuttle AirLiner.

For the latest information on changes to the public transport timetable, please visit the website of the local transport company HEAG mobilo.

Information on long-distance traffic can be found on the Deutsche Bahn website and app.

The city of Darmstadt provides information about the construction project and the current effects on public transport, rail and automobile traffic. Click here to go to the city's traffic project info page. Depending on the construction phase, changes are to be expected.
