Since its opening on 6 December 2007, the darmstadtium has been a meeting place for audiences from the fields of science, business, social affairs and culture - right in the centre of the science and digital city of Darmstadt. In December 2022, the science and congress centre will celebrate its 15th anniversary.
15 years of darmstadtium - that's 15 years of sustainability in action, 15 years of continuous striving for innovation, 15 years of space for exchange and inspiration, 15 years of successful events.
Körbel and Abrazzo visit the darmstadtium
The darmstadtium has often received distinguished visitors in recent years, including German President Walter Steinmeier, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Tenzin Gyatso, the Dalai Lama. On the occasion of the 15th anniversary, two very special guests came to take a closer look at our congress centre. Abrazzo and Körbel from the Kikeriki Theatre developed their very own theory on what actually makes the darmstadtium so special.

15 years of sustainability in action
The darmstadtium is a showpiece for sustainability, resource conservation and intelligent energy use, making it predestined for a future-oriented and climate-friendly conference venue. The building's energy concept consists of a sophisticated interplay of diverse architectural and technical measures.
As the first congress centre with EMASplus certification in Europe, we pursue a holistic sustainability concept that goes far beyond ecological aspects and legal requirements. Social-ethical and economic topics are also integrated. Operational environmental management, future-oriented corporate activity and the perception of social and ethical responsibility are firmly anchored in the structures and processes of the darmstadtium.

THE DARMSTADTIUM HONEY
One of our contributions to more biodiversity in Darmstadt: Three busy bee colonies live and work on our roof terrace. They have been providing us with sweet honey for several years - a very popular give-away for customers and partners of the darmstadtium. On the occasion of our 15th anniversary, we are now offering part of the honey harvest from 2022 for sale.

You can get our honey directly at the Science and Congress Centre's Infopoint, Monday to Friday between 9.00 am and 7.00 pm. The price is 6 euros per jar (250g).
15 Years of Innovation
For years, the darmstadtium has been a pioneer in the event industry when it comes to the megatrend of connectivity. "Germany's fastest congress centre" has a redundant 20 gigabit internet connection that can be scaled up to 100 gigabits. Organisers and guests receive optimal in-house coverage here.
For its first-class digital infrastructure and continuous further development, the darmstadtium received the first INCON Digital Infrastructure Award in 2014 and was again able to assert itself against renowned international competition in 2019.

A unique ambience awaits you at the Darmstadt Science and Congress Centre, which skilfully combines tradition and modernity. The futuristic building of predominantly sloping surfaces offers many architectural features that make it impressive and eye-catching. These include the Calla, the funnel-shaped blossom of glass and steel in the atrium, our large light-flooded foyer areas or the congress hall spectrum, which can be divided several times. In addition, works of art and valuable parts of Darmstadt's history, such as the historic city wall or Darmstadtia, the city's patron saint, invite you to discover and linger.

New perspectives for your business - our space offer
- Congress hall spectrum with 1,302m² and up to 1,677 seats - can be divided into three parts and used both flat and with a rising auditorium. In total, the hall can be transformed into more than 100 variants.
- Congress hall ferrum with 650m² and space for 383 people in rising cinema seating with folding business table
- 21 flexibly combinable conference rooms for a total of up to 1,300 people in various sizes and capacities
- darmstadtium lounge for exclusive events with up to 140 people
- A total of 3,700m² of light-flooded foyer areas for accompanying exhibitions, as catering space or for an evening event - including the entrance foyer atrium with 900m² with integrated city wall and the "Calla"
- A welcome addition: our outdoor areas - the roof terrace, the forecourt, the outdoor area on the east side and the Erich Ollenhauer Promenade, which leads directly to the World Cultural Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe
