Cultural Offerings
Darmstadt possesses enormous cultural offerings. The Staatstheater is known for its modern staging at a high level. Many smaller theatres and stages complete the offering. At the International Music Institute Darmstadt (IMD) and the Jazz Institute Darmstadt, visitors can admire one of the world's greatest collections of New Music after 1945. The Palace Museum in the Residential Palace with its 22 rooms provides a good overview of Darmstadt's courtly life. The cultural offering is supplemented by a variety of museums, exhibition buildings and galleries.
Art nouveau at the Mathildenhöhe
A highlight is furthermore the artist's colony at the Mathildenhöhe. Here, vistors can see the artist's homes with numerous exhibits of the Art Nouveau era. A must is a visit at the Hochzeitsturm and the Russian Chapel.
